Psychological support group “reality and psychic reality: exploring personal projections and transference” took place in Kyiv

On 31 July 2026, another psychological support group was held as part of the Mentally.one project. The session focused on projections, transference, and the ways our perceptions shape how we understand other people.

During the meeting, participants explored how previous experiences, expectations, fears, and personal emotions influence the way we interpret other people’s words, behaviour, and intentions. Together with the psychologist, they discussed the difference between observable facts and personal assumptions, as well as how projections can affect relationships, communication, and emotional well-being.

The practical part of the session combined interactive exercises with theoretical discussion. Participants completed the exercises “The Trait That Triggers Me,” “How I Think You See Me,” “Inner Subtitles,” “Motives,” and took part in the activities “The Other Person’s Mask,” “Okay, We’ll Talk Later,” and “Mirror.” Each exercise encouraged participants to recognize their automatic interpretations, test their assumptions, and build more realistic and psychologically safe relationships with others.

These support groups help participants strengthen emotional awareness, develop a more reflective approach to their own conclusions, and improve interpersonal communication. By creating a safe space for open dialogue, the groups provide an opportunity to better understand oneself and build healthier relationships with others.

We sincerely thank all participants for their openness, honesty, and mutual support. We look forward to seeing you at future Mentally.one support groups!
