Psychotherapeutic support group for men
On Sunday, March 2, 2025, another session of the psychotherapy support group for LGBTQ+ men took place in Kyiv.
During the session, Understanding Anxiety, participants didn’t just try to get rid of their anxiety – they explored it, searched for personal resources within it, and took a closer look at how it manifests. Anxiety is different for everyone: it arises in various situations, feels unique to each person, and even has its own “sound” in the body. Getting to know one’s anxiety not only helps reduce its impact but also allows for discovering new ways to support oneself in difficult moments. Our psychologist, Anna, invites you to explore your anxiety more deeply to experience greater peace and ease.
At this meeting, we discussed where anxiety comes from, how it manifests, and what can be done about it. We also examined how different psychotherapeutic approaches explain this state and why anxiety often arises from uncertainty or unprocessed emotions.
Participants engaged in the “Drawing Anxiety” exercise, where each person attempted to depict their anxiety as an image, word, or symbol. This helped them better understand their emotions and recognize the situations in which anxiety appears – and those in which it does not.
Through open discussion and mutual support, participants gained new perspectives on their experiences and found effective ways to better engage with their anxiety.
