Therapeutic Support Group: “How to Build Relationships for Guys from the Community”

A Men’s Support Group Took Place in Kyiv: Discussing Closeness, Trust, and the Courage to Be Yourself

Today, on October 5, another meeting of the men’s psychological support group was held as part of the VSF25 program, dedicated to the topic of emotional closeness in relationships.

During the session, participants explored how trust and genuine openness are formed in relationships, what it means to have the courage to be yourself alongside another person, and which questions are worth asking before starting a new relationship.

The group took place in a safe and supportive space, where everyone could share personal experiences, talk about expectations, needs, and inner barriers. Through practical exercises such as “I want to be loved despite…”, “The Gaze”, and “The Map of Expectations”, participants not only reflected on their emotions but also practiced expressing their feelings openly and honestly.

In the theoretical parts, the discussion focused on the myths of romantic love, conditional love, and on how within the community, relationships can foster a sense of safety, support, and mutual understanding.

At the end of the meeting, participants shared their feedback, highlighting the warm atmosphere, depth of discussions, and the sense of acceptance they experienced.

This group became another step toward creating a space where men can be sincere, vulnerable, and supported.
