Therapeutic Support Group for Young Men: “How to Understand Your Addictions”
On August 3, 2025, another meeting of the psychological support group for young men took place. This time, participants, together with a psychologist, explored the topic of addictions — emotional, behavioral, adrenaline-driven, and others.
The aim of the group was to help participants better understand the nature of addictive behavior, find inner resources for change, and discover healthier ways to meet their needs.
During the session, participants:
- learned how the brain’s reward system works and why dopamine plays such a powerful role in shaping our habits;
- took on the role of their own addiction in the exercise “Voice of Addiction” — gaining a deeper understanding and inner experience of it;
- used metaphorical cards to explore the unmet needs behind recurring behavioral patterns;
- practiced finding new, healthier ways to care for themselves.
The format of the meeting was interactive and included short theory blocks, practical exercises, storytelling, metaphors, handouts, and even addiction-themed costumes.
The session concluded with feedback and personal reflections.
